Michael Mannarino is a Chicago based photographer, his portfolio focusing primarily on eclectic fashion portraiture. He photographs unique alternative models, often using tattoos as a primary feature within his work. Michael explores the portrayal of the skin through modest and elegant nudity, pairing this with the presentation of beautiful body decoration. Michael shoots mainly female portraiture, portraying both bespoke beauty and fashion in an intimate, organic and natural manner.
“I first discovered photography in high school. My high school offered photography classes as an elective. At this time, digital photography was in it’s infancy (it was about 1994), so I learned to photograph on film. In particular, black and white film. I also learned to process and develop my own film in the darkroom. I quickly fell in love with the process and proceeded to take every available photography class my high school offered. I still have my first camera. It’s a Canon AE-1 which is a fully manual SLR film camera.”
